Wellbeing of Participants

Child Safe Policy

All children who come to the SA Sheep Expo have a right to feel and be safe. We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people attending the SA Sheep Expo event, and the welfare of the children in our care will always be our first priority.

We aim to create a child safe and child friendly environment where all children are valued and feel safe.

We support the rights of the child and will act without hesitation to ensure a child-safe environment is maintained at all times. We also support the rights and wellbeing of our Committee members and volunteers and encourage their active participation in building and maintaining a secure environment for all participants.

We have appointed a Child Safety Officer as a first point of contact to provide advice and support to children, parents, committee members and volunteers regarding the safety and wellbeing of children in our organisation.

Working with Child Checks (WWCC)

All Team Leaders and Volunteers 18 years and over will have a validated National Police Working with Children Check whether staying overnight or not. This ensures your child is being cared for in a safe environment by ensuring those directly responsible for their care has been screened appropriately and eligible to undertake child-related work.
Any other volunteers (including presenters) who are not staying onsite overnight do not require a WWCC, however will be encouraged to obtain one or provide their WWCC details to record on our registry as an additional level of assurance.
